A Discord suggestion bot with voting
Members share ideas with a command. Each one becomes a numbered post in your suggestions channel with Support and Oppose buttons. Votes are counted once per person, and a moderator can mark a suggestion approved or declined with a reason. It works on the Free plan.
What it does
- A member runs /suggest new with their idea.
- The bot posts it in #suggestions with Support and Oppose buttons.
- Each member gets one vote, and can change it. The counts on the post update as votes come in.
- A moderator runs /suggest decide with the suggestion's number. The post shows the verdict and voting closes.
Commands
/suggest newPosts a member's idea to the suggestions channel for voting.
/suggest decideMarks a suggestion approved or declined, with an optional reason. Needs the Manage Messages permission.
Before you add it
- A channel named suggestions where the bot can send messages.
How adding it works
Press Add to my server and Buildcord asks you to sign up or sign in. It then makes a new bot from this template, with every flow already drawn. Paste your Discord bot token, add the bot to your server with the invite link and deploy. Nothing is final: the template is an ordinary bot you can open and change.
What you can change
- Point the bot at a different channel.
- Add a step that messages the author when their idea is decided.
- Rename the buttons or swap the emoji.
Questions
Can members vote more than once?
No. Each member has one vote per suggestion. Pressing the other button changes their vote instead of adding a second.
Can I see who voted?
Votes are stored in a collection with the voter and their side, so you can read them on the Data page. The post only shows the totals.
