A Discord looking-for-group bot for your gaming server

A member posts what they want to play and how many players they need. Others press Join or Leave, the roster updates on the post, and the bot pings the host when the group is full. It runs on slash commands and buttons, so it works on the Free plan.

What it does

  1. A member runs /lfg with a game, a size and a note.
  2. The bot posts a card with the roster and Join, Leave and Close buttons. The host is already on the roster.
  3. Each Join adds the member and updates the card. The bot marks the group full and pings the host when the last spot is taken.
  4. Leaving frees a spot and reopens a full group. The host, or a moderator, can close it.

Commands

  • /lfg

Posts a group with a game, a group size and an optional note about timing or rank.

Before you add it

  • The bot's permission to send messages and embed links where members post groups.

How adding it works

Press Add to my server and Buildcord asks you to sign up or sign in. It then makes a new bot from this template, with every flow already drawn. Paste your Discord bot token, add the bot to your server with the invite link and deploy. Nothing is final: the template is an ordinary bot you can open and change.

What you can change

  • Restrict /lfg to one channel with a channel check.
  • Add a role ping when a group opens, so interested players are notified.
  • Change the card's look in the Embeds page.

Questions

Can a group have a time limit?

Not as it comes. A schedule on the Paid plan could close groups after a set time. On the Free plan the host or a moderator closes them.

How big can a group be?

Between two and 99 players, including the host.

A command, a reply and a deploy is a working bot. It takes a few minutes.
